Throughout Scripture, we see a striking pattern: foreigners often respond to God with worship, while those in power respond with fear or resistance. From the Magi who traveled far to worship the newborn King, to the Roman centurion who recognized Jesus' authority, outsiders frequently demonstrated greater faith than the religious elite.
Rulers, by contrast, often felt threatened. Herod was disturbed. Pharaoh hardened his heart. The Sanhedrin plotted. Power tends to resist surrender. Worship requires humility; fear of losing control pushes people away from God.
The invitation remains the same for every person—regardless of status: Will you worship, or will you resist? The foreigners who worshiped found life. The rulers who feared missed the very One they claimed to serve.
