I developed this website with three goals in mind:
I. SHARING MY JOURNEY
Each person who comes to Christ has a unique story to tell. Some stories are spectacular, while others are not. Still, every story has a memorable change that took place within the life of the Believer. No one comes to Christ and maintains a daily relationship with Him without experiencing a change within their heart and life!
In the My Journey Section (all eight pages), I share my entry point, some high-highs and low-lows, as well as a handful of the miracles I've experienced along the way.
I am sharing all of these things for two reasons:
Hopefully, you can tell by the tone of my writing that such thinking might be true for some who call themselves “Christian”, but it is not true for all Christians!
II. GAINING PERSPECTIVE
I have spoken with a lot of people about Christ and Christianity. Very often, the discussions I've heard against Christianity have primarily focused on (A) the bad things they've experienced within church, (B) the bad things they've read about online, (C) the bad things they've seen on videos, (D) the bad things they've read about in different books, or (E) they have questions regarding morality and ethics. And while all of these topics are important, the main issues are:
Let me tell you a story from two different perspectives. Then, I want you to tell me which perspective YOU think helps people fully understand what took place:
Story One
The other day, I shot a man at my house. Unfortunately, he died from the gunshot wounds. The police arrived, arrested me, and later released from their custody. No charges were brought against me.
Story Two
Three days ago, while sleeping in my own bed at home, a man broke-in around 3:30am. I didn't hear the window break downstairs, but my wife did. She woke me up and said, “Someone's broken into our home and is walking around downstairs! Go deal with it!”
I told my wife, “Call 911.” Then I reached under the bed, pulled out my shotgun and loudly racked a round into the chamber - hoping to scare the burglar. Then I stood up, walked out of my bedroom and down the hall to the staircase.
As I peeked over the railing and looked down the stairs, I saw a flash of light and heard a loud bang. I then realized the burglar had fired a round from his gun. Fortunately, it missed me.
Without missing a beat, I pulled the trigged and fired two rounds. I heard the burglar's body hit the floor as he yelled in pain. I then turned the lights on and ran downstairs to disarm the burglar.
I handcuffed the burglar and bandaged his face and chest.
About 5 minutes later, the police arrived. They took possession of my shotgun, interviewed my wife and I, handcuffed me and took me to the police station for questioning.
After they completed their initial investigation, they told me my story lined up with my wife story and the neighbor next door - who said they saw the guy break in (as well as the hole in the wall and on our living room floor). So, they released me.
Now, which story gives you more clarity on what took place that evening? Obviously, the second one.
I share this with you because it is my intention with this website to bring greater clarity - and to give a different perspective - on some of the more important topics within Christendom!
III. CLARITY AND ORGANIZATION
When I look at all of the informative videos and articles online, I think, “Man, there's a lot of really good Christian info out there! But, there are two things missing: (1) Structure and (2) organization.
Let me give you a perspective on this. Let's say you hire me to teach mathematics to your child. I agree to do so and then share an overview of my plan with you. I say:
“First, I'll begin with a bit of Geometry. Next, I'll share a tinge of Calculus…and then some Algebra. Third, I'll dig deep into sine, cosine, and tangent before finishing off the first lesson with counting, decimals and fractions!”
How do you feel about your decision to have me teach mathematics to your four-year-old child? I'm confident you're thinking it was a bad decision!
Well, I think similar thoughts when I look at all of the informative Christian-based videos, audio files, and articles online because there is no structure or organization to them. I mean, should a New Believer (someone who just came to Christ and doesn't know anything about the Bible, church, or how to pray) be taught (A) polemics, (B) hermeneutics, (C) systematic theology, and (D) textual criticism? Or, should they be introduced to and taught (A) how to pray, (B) how to read, study, apply, and measure what they've read in their bible, (C) how to fellowship with other Believers (some who are more mature, some who are just as mature as they are, and some who are less mature then them), and (D) how to get the best out of a church service?
By learning about all three of my goals, I hope you can see (and feel) an overview of what it is I am trying to accomplish.
Now for my brothers and sisters in Christ who disagree with some of the things I've written about, please allow me the grace, patient and humility that a grandfatherly figure might have with his seven-year-old grandson.
