CURIOUS NON-BELIEVERS
What Is Meant By “Curious Seekers”?
Having personally gone through the Curious Seekers to New Believer process, as well as having observed specific patterns repeat themselves in the lives of those who’ve eventually found Christ, allow me to share with you the process I’ve witnessed again and again:
1. Some people become curious about God, religion, morality, or topics closely related to them. Then, after a season or two of reading, studying, and pondering, they turn to Christ and pursue Him with all of their heart and soul (and find Him).
2. Others feel “the call of God’s Spirit” and begin an immediate pursuit. Many find Him quickly!
3. Others go through an intense season (or two or three) of struggle and conflict. And only then do they submit to His Lordship and find Him.
4. Others hear about the goodness of God – one time – and pursue Him with great passion!
Curious Seekers are those whom God has used other people and circumstances to draw their attention to Him. Their heartfelt seeking for information represents an honest search – with questions like:
• Does God exist?
• And if He does, does He know about and care for me?
Because of all that I have seen and experienced, and because of all I have read and studied, it is my conviction that all sincere, Curious Seekers eventually find Christ. How can I be so sure? Consider the following three ideas:
A. In all my pride, ignorance, and stubbornness, I found Christ. And I wouldn’t trade my relationship with Him for anything in the world. (Yes, you could place 10 trillion dollars into my bank account, buy me 100 vacation homes, give me 1,000+ memberships at private golf courses around the world, and then magically send me back in time to when I was 18 years old to try and persuade me to leave Christ, but I would gladly turn all of that down! That’s how much my relationship with Christ means to me!!!)
B. The Scriptures tell us:
• “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 4:29
• “Blessed are those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart.” Psalm 119:2
• “I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me find Me.” Proverbs 8:17
• “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
• “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6
• “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
C. I have helped (and watched) others come to and find Christ! Some of these people were atheists. Some were agnostics. And some were Muslims, Buddhists, and other religionists.
To be straightforward and clear, Jesus Christ is as real as a quick, brisk slap to the face! Having a relationship with Him is possible for every person. All it takes is the humility, willingness, and sincerity to pursue after Him with all your heart, ask for forgiveness, and invite Him into your daily life!
To me, Curious Seekers are those who’ve already begun their journey towards discovering Christ. Their mindsets, attitudes, and sincerity are what separates them from those who are hostile and argumentative or those who are just curious.
The articles in this section were written to help Curious Seekers on their quest toward discovering and encountering Christ.
